Staff Inventory Accountant

The Staff Inventory Accountant will report to the Joint Interest & Cost Manager and will be an instrumental member of the Accounting team, working independently and proactively on numerous complex Inventory & Cost accounting tasks.


  • Records inventory transactions for Texas operated properties
  • Partners with Field and Procurement personnel on Inventory reconciliation and tracking
  • Further develops and maintains procedures for tracking intercompany inventory transactions
  • Prepares monthly journal entries and accruals
  • Prepare Inventory reconciliations monthly and partner with Facilities and IT on Maximo to BOLO activity.
  • Reconciles cycle and annual counts
  • Participate in person in quarterly and end of year Inventory audits
  • Input/code monthly Inventory and service invoices into Open Invoice for payment
  • Conducts ad-hoc analysis and variance analysis as needed
  • Performs account reconciliations monthly or quarterly
  • Performs special projects that require knowledge of oil and gas cost accounting
  • Utilize COPAS documents & knowledge in new activity when applicable
  • Support audit activity through data requests or data compilation
  • Develops understanding of Masterfile setups and downstream impacts
  • Liaison with Field Personnel, Production, upper management and other departments within the organization
  • Completes special projects, as assigned

  • Eight (6) years minimum oil and gas accounting
  • Comprehensive knowledge of oil and gas accounting system, bookkeeping for inventory, cost, and accounting systems
  • Strong spreadsheet and reconciling accounting skills
  • Ability to perform tasks and achieve results with a high degree of accuracy and precision
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, and officials
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks of differing priorities without close supervision
  • Ability to meet time deadlines, includes working overtime (evenings and weekends) when necessary
  • Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:
    • Required: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
    • Preferred: BOLO, Maximo

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year university or college with a degree in business, finance, accounting, or equivalent experience.
