Description:

This position is responsible for all Operated by Others (OBO) Reservoir Engineering responsibilities for Verdun. The position will be responsible for working with the Asset Teams to evaluate OBO capital spending projects. Generating all current oil and gas asset evaluations and those for potential JV interest. To be successful, the candidate must possess a strong understanding of oil and gas company operations, midstream contract and fee structures, oil and gas Lease Operating Statements (LOS), JIB, and asset evaluation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily:

  • Responsible for reserve determinations, economic evaluations, field studies, and management presentations.
  • Responsible for ensuring the reservoir models for the project are realistic and supported by appropriate data, interpretations, and modeling.
  • Responsible for working within a multi-disciplinary environment to provide reservoir behavior input for the development of producing assets within the OBO areas of the company.
  • Responsible for active participation in new opportunity assessment projects.
  • Responsible for the review, verification, and approval of all JIB statements from partners.
  • Responsible for reserve booking strategies and implementation.
  • Responsible for economic analysis of all projects and AFEs.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of proved reserves in ARIES.
  • Responsible for the preparation and presentation of value recommendations for oil and gas properties.
  • Will act as liaison between management and outside operators to ensure Verdun’s interests are represented and protected.
  • Will interface daily with outside operators, asset teams, midstream, and finance to understand well performance, costs, and fees.
  • Assist the Reserves team with year-end, RBL databases, and reporting materials.
  • Assist with acquisition and divestment economics and due diligence participation.
  • Assist in reporting and benchmarking the cost performance of outside operators.
  • All other duties and tasks as assigned by the direct supervisor or manager.

Qualifications & Skills

The qualifications and skills listed below represent those required to complete the essential duties listed above successfully.

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or other with industry experience from an accredited four-year university or college and 3-7 years of reservoir engineering experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least one year of experience with acquisition and divestiture evaluations at an operating company or bank.

Mathematical Ability

Process complex mathematical calculations. Understand and recognize relationships and outputs from large and complex data sets, with a solid ability to analyze and generate conclusions from that data.

Computer Skills & Software

Strong knowledge of Aries, Excel / VBA / Power Pivot / Data Models, SQL / Other databases, DCA software (Q Engineering, ComboCurve), Enverus, IHS suite, RTA, Spotfire, and Power BI.
