Senior Financial Analyst

Description:

This position works under limited supervision and is responsible for conducting and documenting complex financial analysis for the Company. Additionally, the position is responsible for developing financial plans in conformance with corporate objectives and long-term planning and serves as an analyst and accounting liaison for the technical asset teams to help in preparing monthly financial reports for the Company’s internal meetings. This position will also assist with complex analysis of potential acquisitions, analysis and compliance associated with the company’s capital structure, and take an active role in the Company’s annual plan creation process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned.

• Develop and maintain NAV models for prospective acquisitions, including scenario and sensitivity analysis across commodity price, capital efficiency, and well performance assumptions.
• Prepare acquisition valuation summaries and presentation materials with bid recommendations, key assumptions, and associated risks for review of executive management.
• Monitor acquisition and divestiture activity across target basins and maintain a database of recently closed transactions, tracking implied valuation metrics to inform underwriting assumptions and support benchmarking of prospective opportunities.
• Responsible for providing support to the asset teams by preparing monthly internal financial reports and analyses, managing capital and financial forecasts, budget planning, quarterly activity reviews, preparing asset management profiles, researching and analyzing revenue and operating expenses, and preparing ad hoc reports as requested by asset teams.
• Responsible for preparing cost and production reports for field personnel and providing additional analysis and information for special projects as needed.
• Responsible for preparing analysis for the monthly employee open book management meetings and executive reports. This position is responsible for all aspects of the monthly meetings, including preparing schedules, presentations, and meeting support materials.
• Responsible for complying with various financial reporting compliance obligations associated with the company’s capital structure, as well as evaluating various capital alternatives.
• Responsible for the timely distribution of monthly internal financial reports, analysis, and review of the reports for accuracy, and preparing and booking operating expense and AFE Accruals required for the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
• Responsible for analyzing monthly results for the asset team, performing variance analysis, identifying anomalies and trends, making recommendations for improvements, and providing value-added services.
• Responsible for preparing special reports and completing special projects by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information for various groups throughout the Company, including executives, technical employees, and accountants.
• This position will have an active role in preparing the Company’s Annual Plan process, including preparing a plan for the asset team, running scenario analysis, and reviewing the Plan with management.
• Required to maintain employee confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.

Qualifications & Skills

The qualifications and skills listed below are representative of those required to complete the essential duties listed above.

Education/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 6 years of oil and gas accounting or financial analysis experience required.

Other Skills

• Strong audit, reporting and reconciling skills.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines, including working off hours as required to achieve goals.
• Ability to work independently, completing multiple tasks without supervision.

Computer Skills

• Full knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
• Knowledge of BOLO and Spotfire preferred.
